SpamSafe HelpInstall Please follow these steps to install the
SpamSafe program: 1. Go to
http://www.spamsafe.com/download.aspx 2. Click on Click Here 3. "Run" or "Open" the
installer 4. Follow the instructions on the screen 5. Open SpamSafe 6. Go to File > Register 7. Select "I have already purchased
SpamSafe" and click Next 8. Enter your username and password and
click Finish Delete
“Previously Seen” Message Condition to permit re-download from server I have a temporary solution until we can
build this into SpamSafe as a more workable solution. 1. Open Windows Explorer (My Computer in
XP) 2. Go to C:\Program Files\SpamSafe\spool\uid\ folder 3. Open the uid
folder and delete all items in the folder 4. Go to your email client and click Send/Recv 5. Go to SpamSafe and the Activity Log 6. You will be able to see the From, To, and Subject of each of the emails 7. Assuming there are none you want to keep
go back to Windows Explorer and the uid folder and
copy all items into the del folder inside the uid
folder (Note, do not delete them, just copy and paste). 8. Click on Send/Recv
in your email client Uninstall Please follow these steps to uninstall
SpamSafe: 1. Close your email program 2. Open SpamSafe and go to Settings >
Manage Email Accounts 3. Remove all email accounts in the program 4. Shut Down
SpamSafe 5. Go to Start > Settings > Program
Files > Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs 6. Select SpamSafe, and Remove (When
prompted, do not keep settings) Reinstall Please follow these steps to reinstall the
SpamSafe program: 1. Close your email program 2. Open SpamSafe and go to Settings >
Manage Email Accounts 3. Remove all email accounts in the program 4. Shut Down
SpamSafe 5. Go to Start > Settings > Program
Files > Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs 6. Select SpamSafe, and Remove (When
prompted, keep settings) 7. Go to
http://www.spamsafe.com/download.aspx 8. Click on Click Here 9. "Run" or "Open" the
installer 10. Follow the instructions on the screen 11. Open SpamSafe 12. Go to File > Register 13. Select "I have already purchased
SpamSafe" and click Next 14. Enter your username and password and
click Finish Reset
Email Accounts I would recommend the following steps: 1. Close your email program 2. Open SpamSafe and go to Settings >
Manage Accounts 3. Remove all accounts currently setup 4. Open your email program and verify you
can receive email 5. If not, check
your server settings to make sure they are consistent with your internet
service provider's requirements 6. Once you have active email, open
SpamSafe 7. Go to Settings > Add Email Accounts 8. Choose An
account I already have setup in my email client 9. Follow program instructions to complete
setup 10. Click on Send/Recv
in your email program to activate SpamSafe SpamSafe
Renewal 1. When you first open SpamSafe, you will
see a SpamSafe Registration Type window come up. Select "I want to purchase SpamSafe
now" and click Next 2. Click Secure Purchase 3. This will take you to the website to
purchase the renewal 4. Enter your username and password 5. Click Continue unless you need
additional licenses. Remember the base
license allows installation on up to 5 computers 6. Complete the Purchase transaction 7. When the transaction is completed return
to the Registration Wizard in SpamSafe 8. Click Next and
Finish to complete the renewal activation Detailed
Spam Management When reviewing the Detailed Spam Management
tab, you will find 4 categories of information: Trash: Contains those emails which are
blocked based on public spammer blacklists and your Spammers list created in
the program when you click on Block. Likely Spam: Those emails that match our
filters and are therefore likely spam, however, since the filters are based on
words and phrases it is possible to find good email in this category. Likely Good: Those emails that do not match
any of the filters in the program and are likely good. Emails found in this category which are
actually spam, should be submitted to us for addition to our filters by
clicking Report As Spam. Passed: Those emails that are on
your Friends List and are therefore passed automatically to your email client. Vocabulary Email client: email programs such as
Outlook, Outlook Express, Mozilla Blacklist: a list of known bad email
spammers, Spammers Whitelist:
a list of known good email senders, Friends Product
Registration 1. Go to File > Register 2. Select "I have already purchase
SpamSafe" and then Click Next 3. Enter your username and password as
selected during the purchase process and click Finish Registration
Errors If you receive an error during
registration, it is most likely related to your firewall or anti-virus
software. Make sure SpamSafe is listed
as an Approved or Allowed program in your security programs. Then attempt the registration again. Registration Purchase includes program and filter
updates, unlimited online program support and installation on up to 5
computers. Mail
accounts not listed This may be caused by one of several
reasons: ·
All email accounts are already setup in
SpamSafe ·
Your mail program may not be properly registered
in the standard location on your computer ·
Your mail program may not be automatically
supported by SpamSafe To
manually setup an email account: 1. Go to Setup > Add Email Account 2. Choose the program type of account
(webmail or POP3/IMAP) 3. Complete the Incoming Mail Server
information and then click Next 4. The Outgoing Mail Server information
does not need to be completed unless you intent to send email from
SpamSafe. Please note, SpamSafe is not
intended to replace your email program and there is no Sent folder for any
email sent from the program. 5. On the Outgoing Mail Server you will
need to complete the Email address for the account, then click Next and Finish. 6. You will now need to make the following
changes in your email program: a. Change the Incoming Mail Server to
"localhost" b. Under Username, add an "!"
followed by the Incoming Mail Server information to the end of your
username. Ex. myaccount!mail.server.com Mail
disappears after clicking Good This may be caused by your email program
settings being reset to their "normal" pre-SpamSafe settings. Please open your email program and verify the
settings are as follows in Tools > Email Accounts: Incoming Mail Server: localhost Username: [your username]![your
incoming mail server] (Example: myaccount!mail.server.com) Spam
is getting into my Mail program This occurs if the mail client settings are
not proper for getting mail or if you have an unintended entry in your Friends
list that is causing mail to bypass the filters. To correct this: 1. To correct incorrect Friends List
entries: a. Go to Setup > Accept/Deny Lists b. Review the list under the Friends tab c. If you find an address you do not wish
to receive mail from click on it to highlight it and then click Delete
Selected. 2. To correct incorrect mail settings a. Close your email program b. Open SpamSafe and go to Setup >
Manage Accounts c. Remove all accounts currently setup d. Open your email program and verify you
can receive email e.
If not, check your server settings to make sure they are consistent with your
internet service provider's requirements f. Once you have active email, open
SpamSafe g. Go to Settings > Add Email Accounts h. Choose An
account I already have setup in my email client i.
Follow program instructions to complete setup j. Click on Send/Recv
in your email program to activate SpamSafe Good
mail is being put into my Trash folder This occurs when you have inadvertently
placed the sender on your Spammer list or too much time has elapsed since you
last checked SpamSafe. To remove a good sender from your Spammer
list: 1. Click on the Detailed Spam Management
tab in SpamSafe 2. Click on Trash for the affected account 3. Locate the Good email 4. Click on the item to highlight it and
then click Good in the top toolbar. This
will remove the sender from your Spammers list and add them to your Friends
list 5. If the email has already been deleted: a. Go to Setup > Accept/Deny Lists b. Select the Spammer list c. Locate the sender's email d. Click on the item to highlight it and
then click Delete Selected. This will
remove the address from your Spammers List e. Click on the Friend's List f. Type the email address in the box next
to Add Rule and then click Add Rule.
This will add the sender to your Friends List If do not regularly check SpamSafe, you can
change the settings for number of days before an item is automatically deleted: 1. Go to Setup > Options 2. Select the Deleting tab 3. Change the settings under Auto delete
options to match your use of SpamSafe Not
getting any mail in my email program This occurs when SpamSafe and your email
program are not communicating. This is
most typically caused by improper settings or a firewall or antivirus program
interfering with communications. If you have recently installed or updated
your firewall or antivirus software, check for an Approved or Allowed
list. Make sure SpamSafe is on the list
of allowed programs. If you have recently made changes to
SpamSafe or your email program: a. Close your email program b. Open SpamSafe and go to Setup >
Manage Accounts c. Remove all accounts currently setup d. Open your email program and verify you
can receive email e.
If not, check your server settings to make sure they are consistent with your
internet service provider's requirements f. Once you have active email, open
SpamSafe g. Go to Settings > Add Email Accounts h. Choose An
account I already have setup in my email client i.
Follow program instructions to complete setup j. Click on Send/Recv
in your email program to activate SpamSafe How
can I control deletion of mail? 1. Go to Setup > Options 2. Select the Deleting tab 3. Change the settings under Auto delete
options to match your use of SpamSafe.
Note "0" will cause the email to be kept forever. My
email address or email provider has changed. What do I do? 2. Open SpamSafe and go to Settings >
Manage Accounts 3. Remove all accounts currently setup 4. Open your email program and either
change the settings of your existing account or create a new account. 5. Open SpamSafe 6. Go to Settings > Add Email Accounts 7. Choose An
account I already have setup in my email client 8. Follow program instructions to complete
setup 19. Click on Send/Recv
in your email program to activate SpamSafe SpamSafe
freezes when I select a message Wait a minute. It might seem frozen, but is
simply taking longer than expected. This can occur if the message has a large
attachment not recognized by SpamSafe.
Allow extra time. If the problem
persists, contact our Customer Service Team. I
cannot send mail from my mail program.
1. Open your email program and go to the
account settings for the affected account 2. Locate the box related to "outgoing
server requires authentication" 3. Check that box 4. The mail program should provide an
option to use a specific username and password.
